Guide · Getting here

How to get to Pura Noche

Pura Noche is in Venado, on the Nicoya Peninsula. The easiest way to get here is by car: you don't need a 4x4, and you'll want one anyway for the beaches and the river.

From Liberia airport (LIR)

It's the closest airport and the one with the most direct flights from the US and Canada. The house is an hour and a half away by car.

Once you book, we send you the exact location on WhatsApp; Waze or Google Maps will get you here without trouble.

From San José (SJO)

If you're flying in from Europe, you'll most likely land in San José. It's almost five hours by car: Route 27 toward Caldera, the Inter-American Highway north, and La Amistad bridge over the Tempisque River onto the Nicoya Peninsula.

Leave early so you drive the last stretch in daylight. If you land late in San José, spending the night there and driving the next morning is usually the best option.

Do I need a 4x4?

No. A regular car gets you to the house all year round. If you plan to explore gravel roads in the rainy season, ask us about conditions before you go.

Without a car

There are private and shared shuttles from both airports to the Nicoya Peninsula. Keep in mind that, once here, the beaches, the river and the nearby towns are 6 to 30 minutes away by car.

Road tips

  • Keep some colones handy for the Route 27 tolls.
  • Download offline maps: some stretches have no signal.
  • Avoid driving unfamiliar roads at night.
  • Fill up before you leave the bigger towns.
